For six generations, the Cox family has been proud to call Riverview Plantation “home.” When you come to visit, you’ll understand why. Over the years, this fertile land, located on the banks of Georgia’s Flint River, has been renowned as the “Quail Capital of the World.” Pastoral and beautiful, our plantation has yielded cotton, peanuts, tobacco, pecans, and grains. Most pointedly, it has been a haven for wild game, fish, and birds. And the presence of these trophies – and our hospitality – is what has drawn friends, guests, and discerning hunters back to our corner of South Georgia year after year.

Making a Name for Ourselves

For decades, as soon as cool autumn air replaced the sultry heat of summer, we loaded up our dogs and invited our friends to join us as we eagerly pursued bobwhite quail through the beauty of more than 8,000 acres. In 1957, however, we began opening our lands to an exclusive clientele of sportsmen – and our reputation exploded in the hunting world. Today, we maintain our lofty status by staying focused on the development of our substantial quail habitat and management of our lodge and guest cottages. But that’s not all we do here – far from it. The plantation is also a place where we cultivate forest products, fresh produce, pecans and grains.

No matter how we add to the plantation or alter certain habits, our central philosophy remains untouched: Preserve the grand tradition of the hunt. Visit Us Mid-October Through March

Quail season stretches through three different times of year – and, yes, there are four distinct seasons in South Georgia! The result is that you may experience very different wingshooting expeditions all within the same hunting season. We are eager to help you enjoy your hunt no matter what time of year you visit.

Since most of our clientele book a year or two ahead – and the number of hunting guests accepted at one time is limited to 30 – we recommend you make reservations early. We have 49 single rooms in nine cottages available around the main lodge.
