So many of our guests think of Riverview Plantation as a winter/early spring destination. However, more and more of our clients are discovering the advantages of a fall hunt. That’s because, as the South Georgia heat abates, October through November offers wonderful hunting opportunities. It’s during this time that quail instinctively begin preparing for the approaching season by banding together and forming coveys.
Visiting Riverview before Thanksgiving brings with it several enticing factors:
- The weather is cooling and dry, both of which favor dogs finding birds and hunter success.
- The earlier you book your hunt, the better chance you have of securing desirable dates before the busy hunting season that occurs after Thanksgiving.

Quail season is open mid-October through March, however, most of Riverview Plantation’s clientele book a year or two in advance – and the number of hunting guests accepted at one time is limited to 30. Therefore, we recommend that you make your reservations early. We have 49 single rooms in nine cottages available around the main lodge – and every hunter receives their own room.

We plan for everything
Riverview Plantation includes everything that any hunter could wish in order to experience the perfect quail expedition. We include your every need in our pricing, including the hunt, your stay, meals, and leisure time. There are also additional services available should you require them – including, but not limited to: extra meals, shotgun rentals, cleaning and packaging of birds, practice trap/skeet rounds, and non-hunting guest fees.

Everything You Need
Even if you have novice hunters in your group, our pro shop can help equip them. Don’t tell them to impulse their equipment from just anywhere – they could end up with substandard gear that doesn’t fit and doesn’t work. Instead, tell them to visit our pro shop once they arrive. Our shop contains the perfect items to create or refresh any hunting wardrobe. From hats, shirts, vests and boots, we offer the top-of-the-line hunting brands for our guests to purchase. Regardless, our pro shop has something that is certain to delight both the avid and recreational hunter.
